When I flash the image I get back by stock recovery not twrp.. I need help pls urgently

1) Flash empty vbmeta
2) Flash ported TWRP
3) Flash magisk (tried with and without)
dm-verity is disabled
Device reboots into TWRP instead of system, I then try to clear cache inside TWRP and it says "failed to mount system_root and vendor permission denied" and when I manually mount them and reboot the device, it boots straight back into TWRP

flash back your stock recovery to fix

Not it doesn't boot to fastboot (power + volume up does nothing, screen stays black) mode and I can't even power it off.

press and hold power button until the device goes off OR wait till battery drains OR disassemble the device and disconnect / reconnect the battery
then you can flash back stock recovery using sp flash tool
if you still have problems then create a new thread for your device issue by clicking "Ask Question" at the top

I have a ONN tablet (MT8768) with Android 10. It is rooted with Magisk. DM verity is disabled
I am able to use the 1.7a tool to create a twrp recovery. However, after I flash it and boot to recovery all I get is the twrp image but it goes no further.
Any ideas on what the problem could be? I am happy to do any testing as it is always possible to go back to the stock recovery.
