For those looking to root their Android devices, we'd dropped a guide on how to root using Magisk and stock boot.img at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html . That method only requires your stock boot.img to root, no custom recovery or one-click-root apks.

Sequel to the Mediatek auto Philz recovery porter, we're  releasing this version for Spreadtrum Android users to easily port TWRP recovery as well.



Important Notice

• If the ported TWRP has disabled touch or touch doesn't work then see this fix OR alternatives you could consider
  
• If TWRP requests for password to decrypt data, try the fixes listed @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-30160.html
  
• If TWRP has ADB and MTP disabled, then see https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32715.html
  
• If the ported TWRP doesn't work, then ensure you're using stock recovery from your current rom build and also try both versions of the TWRP porting tool; one might work for you where the other one fails
  
• If you have an SPD android 7.x phone and the ported TWRP doesn't work on your phone, then try porting recovery.img from both android 6 and 5 versions.
  

Requirements

• Stock recovery.img (You can download the firmware then extract the contents of the pac file, use rashr.apk or flashify.apk if rooted or dump the phone's ROM using a box/dongle etc )
  
• Download SPD Auto TWRP recovery porter by Team Hovatek from the link at the bottom of this post
  
• Windows PC
  

How to port TWRP recovery for Spreadtrum Android using Team Hovatek's SPD Auto TWRP recovery porter

1. Extract the SPD Auto TWRP recovery porter zip
   
2. Copy the stock recovery.img into the stock-recovery folder
   
3. Double-click SPD Auto TWRP Recovery Porter.exe
   
4. Tap Enter to confirm that you've copied your stock recovery.img into the stock-recovery folder
   
5. Enter the option for your Android version (4 for Kitkat, 5 for Lollipop, 6 for Marshmallow & 7 for Nougat) and tap Enter
   
6. Wait while our tool ports the TWRP recovery
   
7. You'll find your ported TWRP recovery in the output folder.
   
8. Flash the recovery image to your device (you can use fastboot or rashr / flashify if rooted)

Hey there, I succeeded porting TWRP for my phone without this tool, but I had to get TWRP for the same chipset as my device.
And as you stated that this tool can port TWRP for almost all SPD devices, how is that possible? I mean lots of TWRP for different SPD chipset are required and I haven't seen that much TWRP folders in this tool, I've seen only 3
and that too of SC8830 chipset.
How can this tool port for other chipsets as well??
I am asking this question because I wanna know, can we port custom recovery (especially CWM) of different SPD chipset to SC8830 SPD chipset?
Like for example, can we port CWM recovery for SC7715 to SC8830??

Android versions were same but chipsets were the different model. But I succeeded when I tried porting with same chipset.
