(28-04-2021, 03:09 PM)hovatek You're to flash back the stock vbmeta first then stock boot and recovery. All these using Research Download tool as explained @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-28774.html
While you could attempt flashing your signed-boot-only vbmeta using Research download tool, any signature error you get (if you do) could cause the tablet to get stuck in flash mode. That is something you don't want to happen

I'm in trouble again... Sorry for that!

I don't really know what's the difference between SPD tools (Upgrade, Research and Firmware), my ROM came with Upgrade Tool inside the RAR so i thought it was the correct tool. But when i try to follow the "Flash only one file" tutorial (using Research Tool as instructed), i get a "Failed: incompatible partition" error for vbmeta. Searching for that error in Hovatek forum, the first suggested solution is Tick Repartition, but the tutorial says it must be unticked.

The second suggested solution is to use the latest version of Research Tool or Upgrade Tool. I tried 3 versiones of Research Tool, none can pass that error. I tried Updgrade Tool, but it doesn't allow to untick Repartition (and Firmware Tool doesn't allow selecting individual files for flashing).

I also don't know if t's a matter of drivers... i downloaded and installed SPD_Driver_R4.20.0201 (latest) some days ago, and used 2 times with SPD Upgrade Tool, so i think there's no need to follow the install drivers of 2014 tutorial.

Do i tick Repartition? What's the recommended step now?

Sorry again, this is getting off topic.

try ticking repartition and see if it fixes the issue or not also this isn't a driver related problem
if you still have any other problems then create a new thread for it by clicking "ask question" at the top

Sorry to post so late after your answer...

I did the process with SPD Research Tool:
- Ticked "Repartition" option and flashed original vbmeta. After that, the tablet did still boot up, but no recovery (obviously).
- Flashed original boot and recovery. Ticking "Repartition" was needed also. After that, the tablet boot up, and it could enter in recovery or fastboot mode by pressing Vol- or Vol+ on Power on, after powering tablet off.

Then i used fastboot Windows binary to flash:
- Padded+Signed custom vbmeta, modified only for boot partition, without rebooting
- Patched+Signed boot.ini, and afther that, it is possible to reboot

Root is finally made, though i'd like to some facts:
- adb reboot recovery does work
- adb reboot fastboot does not work
- fastboot reboot fastboot does not work
- Power off, Power on with Vol+ will not enter fastboot
- Power off, Power on with Vol- does enter recovery, then you choose "Reboot to bootloader" and it does enter fastboot

I think this is a common behaviour, though. Entering fastboot requieres one additional step.

Thanks a lot for your kind answers and your hard effort to research about these methods.

Oh, one final question list about this tablet:
- How this tablet (P80X EEA G5K4) could came loaded with v1.02_20191230 ROM?
- Maybe it came with a ROM for another model and that's the cause of those horrible blinks when i received it?
- Does this model accept another ROM?
- Is there any way to get an updated ROM?

Official Teclast OTA download offers only the v1.00_20191125 ROM for EEA version.

Hi,
I'm back with good news: I managed to root my P80X tablet thanks to all your tutorials !
For information: when I patched boot.img with Magisk Canary, the UnisocAR app was created, but Google play protect wanted to disable it. So I did a hard-reset with help from Magisk and the protection alarm disappeared.

Just a question: Every time I start up, the screen shows "INFO: LOCK FLAG IS: UNLOCK!!! - WARNING: LOCK FLAG IS UNLOCK, SKIP VERIFY!!!" for 30 to 40 seconds, isn't it a bit long ?

I think I'm going to give up. I spent about a week to achieve the previous steps that the tutorial says to follow, I get everything without errors. Then I flash the signed vbmeta file and the process ends successfully. I sign the recovery and boot file (both patched with magisk from the stock version? I sign the same but they are not flashed to the equipment, the process remains as the attached photo. The command is sent but it is never flashed. The device is a rear view mirror android which came with a SOC SC9832E

create a new thread for this by clicking "ask question" at the top
in this thread, post details about what you've done, e.g info_image from your stock vbmeta, command you used to create custom vbmeta, e.t.c also include the android version
