Hello I've tried flashing a patched boot image from magisk to my infinix S4 and the phone ends up in bootloop after every 5 seconds. The phone is also detected by adb but fastboot mode it doesn't detect, despite installing correct drivers.

Try the fix for fastboot @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-17105.html

Also, did you unlock bootloader?
Make sure you patch the boot.img for your phone’s build.

No i did not unlock bootloader because it can't be detected in fastboot. But i followed the guide in the thread and it still does not detect. I also have the correct boot image.

for fastboot detection problems, see https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-17105.html
for bootloop, ensure to flash empty vbmeta before flashing patched boot ; see the update section @ https://www.hovatek.com/blog/dm_verity-i...-bootloop/

OK,I've tried flashing an empty vbmeta but the phone still gets red state warning and reboots after 5 seconds.I also found a solution for fastboot and now it is detected in fast boot mode but when I try to unlock the bootloader it fails.

flash back your stock images, verify the red state error is gone
then unlock bootloader using the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19578.html ; see step 14
at this point, confirm if there's still red state error or not

I flashed back the stock images and the red state error is gone.I've also tried the commands in step 14 of the thread and still don't work.

Did you enable OEM unlocking & USB debugging in developer options?
