Thanks so much for the awesome work all you people! I'm amazed how ya'll can cross reference each other quite fluidly, and account for many variables. Just got magisk installed on my digiland 1016, which only has the flashable .zip and scatter file for first firmware version, and not after. Next step after magisk: Creating my own custom recovery automatically, since there is ZERO official support from xda developers.

Finally, I was able to pull my firmware from my Infinix Note 5 (Mt 6763) using this method!
I had problems initially though, but with common sense, I was able to get through.
Let me point it out to others having problem with this hardware, custom DA is the solution!. However, you might still get errors even trying to chose the custom DA for your device. You know what you are going to do? just leave SP flash tool as it is, then when you are about to readback ROM_0, back and select ur custom DA.
Another thing, SP flash tool will not show you RAM test, you will get DRAM flip test instead, just ignore it, refer to the havotek tutorial how to use Wwr_MTk for that...
That's how I get pass all those wahala..
