How to flash / unbrick a Tecno W3


The firmware above is in scatter format so this means you can flash with SP Flash tool, Infinity Chinese Miracle II MTK Box,
Miracle Box (If indicated that it's a Miracle Box Dump) or any other Chinese box or tool which supports flashing in scatter format.
Before flashing, ensure that:
  1. The battery is charged to an extent and inserted into the phone
  2. The phone is powered off / switched off
  3. You have installed Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM drivers
  4. You have downloaded either parts of or the complete firmware above (depending on what you need to flash) and unzipped into a folder
  5. You have a PC and USB cord

Hello Hovatek team, thanks for your support
the download is not working for me. i tried to download the firmware for Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-170503V117) on mega on my browser but the download keep on falling back i.e after downloading about 25MB, it will fall back to 4MB to the extent that the download never reach 60MB not to talk of 1.22GB. i tried downloding it through mega software but the software kept on redownloading the fieles automatically after finishing download. i tried downloading from Mega through IDM but WINRAR says the archive is corrupt. pls I need your help as my phone is dead now and i need it fix this quickly.

How do I know which of these ROMS will work for my phone. The phone is bricked and won't boot, not even into recovery. But it briefly shows up in Device Manager when I plug it in. Is there any other way to know the exact ROM that was in the phone before or just anyone would work?

It'll have to be trial and error in your case. unless you know the phone's Build Number or can extract the system.img to find out

It'll have to be trial and error in your case. unless you know the phone's Build Number or can extract the system.img to find out

I actually did "trial and error" with most, if not all the ROMS listed above on this thread and ALL returned similar errors "BROM ERROR: [EMI]: Enable_DRAM_failed or Obtain_DRAM_failed. Please check your load matches to your target which is to be downloaded" in SP Flash Tool which also suggests a [solution]:  Please check your images to make sure it matches with your phone and download again. How is it possible none of these ROMS are compatible with my Tecno W3.

I've tried:
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806-A1-M-HiOS-20160612) [Miracle Box]
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-161230V103)
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-160901V46) [Miracle Box]
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806B1-M-EG-160721V8)
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806B1-M-EG-161012V12)
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-161216V101)
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-170503V117)


The only two I haven't tried are:
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-170204V109)
* Tecno W3 (W3-H806A1-M-170222V112)



Also, it's only Tecno W3 (W3-H806-A1-M-HiOS-20160612) that I actually downloaded the full stock ROM, every other one only the component files. Is that a factor?

Not as long as the component files you used were obtained from the same build (didn't mix component files from different builds).
Have you tried dumping your phone's firmware in scatter format using Miracle Box @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html
