This guide will teach you how to use GSM Aladdin Box to backup / dump a Mediatek (MTK) Android phone's firmware in both scatter and .bin format. Its important to backup so you have something to unbrick with.
Requirements
- Download the latest version of GSM Aladdin box
- Install Mediatek VCOM drivers on the PC
Steps to backup a Mediatek Android phone's firmware using GSM Aladdin Box
Follow the steps below to use GSM Aladdin to backup a Mediatek device's firmware
- Extract the content of the GSM Aladdin zip and double-click GSM Aladdin 1.34.exe
- Click the Mediatek tab
- Tick ReadFlash
- Set Model option to Auto Detect and USB
- If you wish to dump the firmware in scatter format, tick Save as Scatter file. For whole .bin format, leave this option unticked
- Click Connect
- Click Start
- You should now see >>> Scanning Mobile USB Port... . At this point, switch off the phone then connect it to the PC via USB cord (with or without the battery in it)
- GSM Aladdin should now detect the phone
- If you ticked the Scatter file option, a box should popup. In this box, tick the partitions you wish to backup / Dump
- Click OK when you're done
- Select the location you wish to save the backup to then click OK
- GSM Aladdin should begin backing up the selected partitions. Do Not interrupt this process
- If you didn't tick the scatter file option, a window will popup. Select the location you wish to save the whole .bin backup to then click Save
- GSM Aladdin should commence backup. Do Not interrupt this process
- Once backup is done, you should get a success message
Important Notice
- GSM Aladdin ideally requires a hardware box to work. Running the module without one won't work
- If you decide to use a loader version (no hardware needed) then your antivirus might flag it. Its entirely up to you to heed or ignore
- For best compatibility, flash your backup using GSM Aladdin box
- Avoid interrupting the backup process as doing so could cause the device to go dead
- Secure Boot devices will require a DA file
