Dear,
I have been looking around how to make a backup of my rom.

The phone is a Mijue T200 with the MTK 6735 quadcore processor working at 1.3Ghz.

The reason is simple. One way or another these 'tools' at Mijue have implemented the idea of splitting up a 16GB interal SD rom into 2 partitions - with only a 2GB partition to install apps on (and 10GB of user data). Can you believe it? This makes the phone almost completely useless. You can install a few apps, and that is it.

I have found a potential solution to resize the partitions on xda

http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/...l-t3180978

however this is only possible when a custom recovery is installed.

This leaves me with a problem. How to install a custom recovery, if there is one.

The phone cannot be rooted with any of the available tools. I have tried!

I do NOT ave available a stock rom. (I think Mijue is bankrupt or something, because nowhere there is information to be found of the company anywhere). THEREFORE I NEED TO DO A READBACK OF THE STOCK ROM FIRST.

My plan of attack.

1) Use SP flash tool - to read back the rom BUT problem - I do not have a scatter file.

2) I have found scatter files from another mt 6735 phone, but they are not exactly the same - thus

3) Using Engineer mode, I have been able to read back information from emmc memory of the phone and I think I can change the few things that need to be changed.

If successful, this allows me to read back the entire rom from the phone and store it.

Question:

1) how to proceed from there?
2) Do I need to read back entire rom, or should I read back any single partition?
3) If I read back any single partition, how to name them?
4) How to create a custom recovery (TWRP/CWM) out of this?

All help is gratefully acknowledged!
Sven.

PS. I have added the screenshots from the emmc information. It seems that the start adresses in the first screenshot are not exactly the same as in the last 2 ones ('common info). Which one to use?

PPS. I have found a scatter file for another phone with the same chipset. Up to metadata or system all the memory addresses are exactly the same as in the 'common info' screenshots The few that are not the same, I can easily change myself with notepad++

So, I managed to download the 'd' version of MTK Droid Tools 2.5.3 and.....

NO GO. It is not possible to create a scatter file. The button is 'greyed' out.

Sven.

So, this is my last update for today.

I made a scatter file based on the 'common info' as shown in the attachments (2 pictures). I only had to change a couple of hex-addresses.

I have added 'my' scatter file and the scatter file that I used to start with (it is from a THL 2015a phone). The changes are made only from the system partition onwards only.

So, I use SP flash tool to readback my phone rom up to 'cache' (I have followed a video on youtube from IXtutor for this). So I have a ROM_0 file.

Then I use droid tools 2.5.3d to 'process ROM_ from flash tools'. Then it goes wrong. I get error messages in droid tools.

I am not surprised as droid tools is apparently not up to standard for MT67xx chips.

That is it. This is how far I am.

Apparently I can readback some files from the phone rom, but I have to way of checking if they are the correct ones.

Any updates on this are highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sven.

Using the method @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-526.html, readback only recovery.img
No need to create a scatter file, you already have one.
Start = Linear start address
Length = Size

Dear Hovatek, thank you for the quick reply.

I will do that tomorrow.

I suppose that the recovery.img is enough to make a custom recovery?

How to create a full backup of the rom? Probably after I installed a custom recovery I suppose?

After I have the recovery.img, what then? Should I post it?

Sven.

You can't process ROM_0 using MTK Droid tools since it doesn't support your phone model so you'll need to readback one partition at a time.
Send the :
