How to use Odin
The steps below explain how to use Odin
See the video below or @ https://youtu.be/DeXvPSPRlWc
- Extract the contents of the Odin zip file into a folder and launch Odin
- Click OK once prompted
- You should see the Odin dashboard
- Depending on your model (old vs new), you should either have a single file or multiple files in the firmware folder. For single file, click the AP button. For multiple, load to their respective partitions by clicking the button with the partition name
- Select the file and click Open
- After loading the file(s) to be flashed, boot the device into Download Mode then connect
- You should see detection (Blue bar with COM Port number). Click Start
- Wait while Odin flashes the firmware
- You should see a PASS message once flashing is done
Important Notice
- On Odin interface, the following has been changed on newer versions of Odin
Bootloader > BL
PDA > AP
Phone > CP
CSC > CSC
- Its important you only flash firmware for your device else you could run into problems not only on Odin but also on the device
- Choosing CSC will wipe your data while HOME_CSC will not wipe your data
- BL = Bootloader
- CP = Modem
- AP= OS (boot, recovery, system etc)
- CSC Country Specific Code / Consumer Software Customization = Region / carrier-specific customizations
- USERDATA= Userdata
Quote:In this video tutorial, I'll be explaining how to flash firmware to a Samsung Android device using Odin.
First you need to have Odin,
you need to know how to boot into Download Mode,
you need to have installed drivers whether using KIES or Smart Switch and you also need to have the firmware for your model,
I'll link to guides on all these.
Now, once you've done these, you launch Odin.
You click OK. now, depending on the kind of firmware you're flashing and your model, the content might vary.
You might have a single file or you might have multiple files.
If its a single file, like old models, you just load that to the AP but for multiple files like this one I'm flashing here,
you load them to their respective partitions.
I'll load BL to BL, and the rest like that.
Now, for CSC, you'll notice that you have two CSCs in your firmware.
Home CSC, when you select that, its not going to wipe your phone but normal CSC is going to wipe.
I want to do a clean flash so I'll select regular CSC.
Now you boot the device into Download mode and then you connect to the PC.
You should have detection up here, then you click Start.
So now you can disconnect and boot up.
That's how to use Odin to flash firmware to your Samsung device.
