I had a unifiaoto (off brand on amazon) android car radio for less than a year. It went into a boot loop. I contacted them they sent firmware update with instructions. The update didn't work, still in boot loop. They sent a new update, still didn't work still in boot loop. So I got sp flash tool & mt drivers & flashed it. It gave the error that it needed download & to format. So I did the format except for boot loader thing. It finally flashed the update but now the screen is messed up, whereas before the screen was fine. So the screen isn't messed up due to impact. Is there any saving this & getting it back operational??

The chip is MT8163 which is also the updates they sent. The numbers on the board are AJ002-MB-VER5.3. If there's any help you can give I'd be grateful.

It doesn't sound like you did a full backup of the firmware before flashing (which you should have).
What do you mean by the screen being messed up? Is it showing multiple colors? Does it appear to be stuck in a bootloop?

It is showing white & colored lines. It was boot looped before the update. Yes, in hind sight I should have made a backup (not sure how).

It seems like they changed display drivers in your update. You'll need the LK.bin backup from the firmware you were originally running on... refer to https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-1667.html
Unfortunately, we don't collect firmware for this model at the moment

Hello,

I have the same board as MuzzyMel: AJ002-MB-VER5.3, MediaTek MT8163V, 9 inch head unit for Peugeot 408 (1280x720, label “AC HC 4+64G Carplay 720 RGB 14.0 HW XYD”, Raise CAN box RZ-PSA15). It suddenly went into a boot loop: the Android logo appears, then the screen goes completely black and it starts again. Power and ACC are stable (checked with a multimeter), and the reset button does nothing.

I have not flashed anything yet. I have SP Flash Tool v5.1924 and the MTK drivers installed. Could you tell me:

How to make a full backup of the current firmware first (scatter file for this board?)
If anyone has the stock firmware for AJ002-MB-VER5.3

Thanks a lot.
