someone tried that and it worked for him, so you can give it a try and let's know how it goes.
Just make sure you don't flash preloader or format the phone.

not necessarily, you can flash the full marshmallow and update manually using system updates in settings too

I intend formatting the phone once to start afresh. I do it every 3 months. I don't have much apps. Just the basics.

Exactly my next move, but I don't know which Marshmallow build is mine. I can't see any literature for that.

notice our link @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19956.html says Hot 4 even though the external link says otherwise
if you still want to confirm yourself, use method 4 or 7 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16005.html (skip the part about dumping firmware since you have firmware already)
amongst the items in the list, you'll find the full product model

Might be a mistake, the build no. doesn't match that of hot 4 lite.
