A few days ago, Chrome and Opera (Desktop versions) got stable updates. I usually ensure that Google Chrome auto update and Windows automatic update download are both disabled (only security releases catch my attention) but somehow forgot to put these back in place after running a Windows update following the WannaCry and ExPetr (variant of Petya) ransomware scare. Bitcoin is now $2,500, I can’t shout! Anyway, I only noticed these yesterday when I checked under both Settings (to tweak some settings before zooming off to the internet) because they looked entirely different. Take a look:
Chrome settings
Opera settings
Back in May 2017, Opera had integrated Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and Telegram into the Desktop version. I’ve personally tried these and they work just fine. This June 2017, Google announced that in 2018, Google Chrome will roll out with an inbuilt Adblocker.
How to update Chrome and Opera Desktop browsers to the latest version
Simply head to Settings (Alt) > Help (on Chrome) > About > Wait while your current version is checked for an update
