Ensure that you're using the custom DA for this model and also try using a different USB cable

I have also noticed that this problem also occurs when one presses the wrong boot key EG volume- instead of pressing the volume+ key. It has happened to me on many phones and on Tecno BB2 as well. After disconnecting, removing the battery and reinserting it back, now connecting the phone to the PC while pressing the correct boot key has always done the job. And when talking of installing proper device drivers, do you mean the Tecno POP3 drivers or the Mediatec Vcom drivers? I because I'm sure you should have installed the latter.
2. Have you checked if the device is being detected by the computer in windows device manager? To check if the drivers are well installed, launch Device manager, Go to a section called Other devices, connect your device while holding the volume+ button and see if the device appears. If it does not appear, consider manually installing Mediatek Vcom drivers.

You could find out for yourself by trying out different key combos starting with the easiest i.e only vol down or only vol up

create a new thread for this by clicking "ask question" at the top
in the new thread, state the build number of your device before you flashed it
