Infinix Note 6, stock Android 9, DM-Verity disabled.
Image ported with MTK Auto TWRP recovery porter v1.5 kicks me back to fastboot; image ported with v1.4 got me stuck in preloader (which was the topic of my last thread).
This device has a separate "ramdisk-recovery" partition, probably related. I've uploaded both partitions here.

how did you disable dm_verity? and how did you flash and attempt to boot the twrp from v1.5?
what's the kernel version of your device?
v1.4 doesn't support android 9, not sure why you'd bother to use it anyways

Verity disabled with "fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img". My other goal is to run GSIs so I know this is necessary.
Flashed via fastboot followed immediately by key combo.
Kernel version 4.9.117.
The idea of trying another version of porter came from earlier when I used the Spreadtrum porter, that SPRD device is on Pie which isn't listed as supported, but the Oreo porter did produce a half-working recovery.

after flashing twrp in fastboot either use
fastboot reboot > adb reboot recovery
or
fastboot boot recovery.img
or
fastboot oem reboot-recovery

None of these change the outcome (freeze then fastboot).

Thanks!

Both work similarly:
  • No support for encrypted data (I don't care)
  • No MTP and regular ADB, i.e. can't exchange data with PC
  • Backup and restore (system, vendor, data, boot) work okay
The "n" one has usable ADB sideload, but since that only accepts zip packages, its usefulness is limited.

Any update on this? Would love to see at least ADB working, so that it can be used for emergency data retrieval.

no update, BTW you won't be able to make any such "emergency data retrieval" even with adb enabled or not when you still have encrypted data
if you were you decrypt data and you happen to require an "emergency data retrieval" and you can boot to twrp, then you won't need adb seeing and you will be able to use twrp's file manager to mount data and copy items onto an external sd

Right, I'm always on unencrypted data. Thanks all the same.
