A damaged battery (alone) isn't enough to trigger an error of this magnitude

the battery is worn-out and faulty and so is the OS [most likely coincidental]
you'll need to replace the battery and still perform the repair or restore of the OS

The original OS that came with the laptop is window 8.. Can I use windows 8.1 ISO file to perform the repair

no, 8 and 8.1 are not the same

I have been trying to download the ISO via my phone but it's not working...after the adfy window opens... I click on skip AD and it's taking me to another page without downloading

Most sites seem to have taken down their Windows 8.0 ISO.
Use the 8.1 ISO while we're working on an 8.0 ISO but you'll need to do an install instead of a diagnostic scan
