The Tecno N9S (e.g N9S-WQ500TD2-M-KESF-170105V7) is an MT6737M powered Android phone running on Android 6 (Marshmallow).

How do I root the Tecno N9S?

• Unlock the Bootloader of the Tecno N9S following the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19578.html
  
• Download TWRP for Tecno N9S ported by Team Hovatek at [ Login / Register to download free]
  
• Extract and copy the TWRP recovery.img into the same folder as the fastboot.exe and adb.exe
  
• Download SuperSU 2.76.zip at [ Login / Register to download free]
  
• Copy SuperSU.zip to both the phone’s SD card and internal storage
  
• Boot the phone into Fastboot (as instructed in the Bootloader unlock guide)
  
• When the phone enters Fastboot, flash the TWRP recovery image to the phone by typing the command below then pressing Enter

• Once recovery is flashed in Fastboot, hold the Volume up + Power button and don’t release till the phone reboots into Recovery mode
  
• In TWRP, if you get a prompt asking you to swipe to allow modification of the System partition, tap KEEP READ ONLY
  
• If TWRP offers to root the phone, select NO
  
• In TWRP recovery, tap Install
  
• Navigate to the location of the SuperSU.zip and select it
  
• Swipe to confirm flashing of SuperSU.zip and wait till flashing is complete
  
• Reboot the phone normally
  
• Confirm Root by installing and running Root Checker @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...heck&hl=en

is it just me or the first link on how to unlock bootloader of the tecno n9s takes me to a different guide on how to root the infinix hot 4 lite. If anyone has the correct procedure on how to unlock bootloader of the tecno n9s please help. I'm stuck here

You can also root using the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html the method doesn't require an unlocked bootloader.
