Dear Sir,

I am writing to you to explain the method I followed to install the custom TWRP recovery on my Tecno Spark 8 Pro phone.

The custom recovery was provided by Hovatek company. I sent them the official boot.img file for my device and received the TWRP file in return.

I used Fastboot mode for the installation. I first disabled protections by flashing vbmeta, vbmeta_system, and vbmeta_vendor with the disable verity options.

I then executed the command: fastboot flash boot twrp.img

The flash process was successful, and I booted into TWRP recovery. Inside TWRP, the hardware buttons are functional, the touchscreen works correctly, my data is intact, and all my files are present, including my backups.

Following your guidance, I attempted to flash the official boot.img file from within TWRP using the "Install" menu, but I could not find a option to flash to the 'boot' partition specifically.

I then navigated to the "Advanced" section, where I found several options. I selected the one to install or flash the recovery to the recovery_ramdisk. Unfortunately, the process failed.

The internal flasher in TWRP is unable to flash the official boot.img file. It also fails when trying to flash the TWRP image to the recovery_ramdisk.

I am now seeking a solution to this problem.

I also tried to reboot to the system from within TWRP, but the phone does not boot into the OS; it returns to recovery.

As a final step, I went back to Fastboot mode and flashed the official boot.img to both slots (slot a and slot b). This successfully restored my phone to its official state without TWRP.

Please, I need your assistance to resolve this issue and successfully install TWRP.

Thank you for your time and support.

Mediatek Course Mediatek Course

Greetings,

I extend my sincere thanks to the Hovatek website and its team for the valuable services they provide to users worldwide. Thanks to your support, I was able to obtain TWRP Recovery for my Tecno Spark 8 Pro.

However, during installation, I encountered an issue: the TWRP interface does not allow flashing the boot.img internally, nor does it accept flashing the twrp.img itself. Additionally, the system fails to boot after installation.

It is worth noting that all other functions work perfectly, including touch responsiveness, file browsing, and backup creation.

I have previously contacted you and am awaiting your kind response to resolve my installation and boot issues. I would also appreciate detailed guidance on the correct method to install TWRP on the Tecno Spark 8 Pro, considering the following:

· The device does not have a dedicated recovery partition.
· It uses the A/B partition scheme.

I look forward to your assistance.

Best regards,
Maen Ibrahim

Tecno Spark 8 Pro.

Hello

Today, I made another attempt to install the TWRP recovery that was built specifically for my device by the Hovatek forum, using my phone's stock boot.img.

The same problem persists despite all my efforts. The process of flashing from within the system (internal flashing) results in failure.

My English is not very good, and I do not currently have another phone to record the error logs.

The issue is the failure to flash the boot.img. Within the available flashing options for the boot partition, there is no option or menu item named "Boot." I selected the boot file and tried installation options targeting partitions like system, vendor, and others, but there was no mention of a boot partition.

However, within the "Advanced" options, there is a choice called "Recovery Install RAMDisk." I tried this as well, but the flash also failed.

I have not been able to install TWRP.

Everything else in the recovery works perfectly: the touchscreen is excellent, navigation is smooth, file reading, and backup functions all work well. The only error is in the flashing process to install TWRP and the boot file.

I don't know what to do anymore.

Previously, I also tried two different TWRP files from the XDA Developers website, and the result was the same failure from within the system.

Thank you, and I hope you have a solution for me.

For reference, my phone is a Tecno Spark 8 Pro (KG8).

If I get you right, you flashed TWRP to the boot partition and this causes the device to always boot to TWRP right?

(13-09-2025, 02:24 PM)star2500 Dear Sir,
..
Please, I need your assistance to resolve this issue and successfully install TWRP.

Thank you for your time and support.

If I get you right, you flashed TWRP to the boot partition, and this causes the device to always boot to recovery mode. You wish to know how to have TWRP and still be able to boot to home screen. You also said you don't have the option to flash to the boot partition while in TWRP.
Two questions:
1. Do you have the Boot option when backing up
2. Does ADB or SD card work?
