Phone build is: Tecno Camon C8 (C8-H352-A2-L-20160118)
I flashed and rooted my TECNO C8 some time ago. Yesterday, it started booting into TWRP boot screen only. I did some research and learned that this was a glitch with the official update.
I tried reflashing stock ROM with MiracleBox (with loader) using scatter file. Miracle Box never connected to the phone. (I installed Vcom drivers both automatically and manually. then did Deview to uninstall, assuimng there is a clash. no luck at all). Another weird thing that kept happening is that as soon as I connect usb cable to Tecno, it turns on automatically. Miraclebox wants it to be turned off and connected. But I can't keep it turned off.
A bit more research showed that I should be able to reflash the phone through TWRP -> Install. (I hope I am not wrong). But none of the files given here works : https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19278.html. TWRP gives an error (failed to install). Is this because I am trying to use Miraclebox dump files in TWRP? If so, where can I find a ROM file that can be flashed through TWRP?

it should be twrp > install > install img > select the file you want to flash > select the partition where it should go
and using miracle box files doesn't have any difference whatsoever

for miracle box, you can try flashing without the battery
or try the method @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-24287.html then flash using sp flash tool

I will try to go with TWRP option first. I found TWRP->Install and opted for image instead of zip files. But no file is listed as an option. I checked the Rom file I downloaded from Hovatek and it does not have any image files. They are all bin files.

I just did so. I renamed recovery.bin to recovery.img and followed the steps. It went through in TWRP. It asked to reboot and I chose "reboot system". I guess that was a mistake, now the phone only shows dead android with an exclamation mark on its stomach. I can't get into TWRP anymore.

I was planning to flash, recovery, boot and system in three steps. Somewhere online, I saw someone fix their phone this way. But I can't do that anymore.

Follow up on this.

Since TWRP boot failed, I tried both of the other recommendations.
1) I tried to follow the thread you linked and tried to use Miracle box dump files in SP flash tool. It didn't work. That post recommends changing ver 1.1.1 to 1.1.2or 1.1.3. I did these along with a couple more, SP flash did not recognize the files.

2) I removed the battery but miracle box still cannot find the phone on the usb port. It waits for USB port and after some time says, non usbport maybe driver not installed. But, I installed the driver manually.
In order to test this, I used another laptop. I used the automatic driver installer (MTK) and then tried miracle box (+ loader). Again, the phone is not recognized. In fact, Windows is trying to mount the phone as soon as I connect the USB cable (that distinct sound it plays). After some time, it unmounts it (again with its sound) and gives USB device not recognized error.

As I mentioned before, I tried deview to uninstall all drivers and tried manual driver installation. Don't know how to proceed,

launch device manager on your pc, remove / reinsert the battery of the phone then connect it to the pc without holding any buttons using USB cable
what does the phone get detected as? (you can retry several times while holding either vol up or vol down buttons)

It gets detected as MTK USB devvice (COM X) X being a number such as 4 5 6.

When I removed the battery and tried SP flash tool, although the mount/unmount cycle goes, I could flash the phone. I tried some other files for Tecno C8. All went through, but the phone is not fixed. (I guess it is because I used a different set of files). IF only there was SP flash files for my phone (20160118).

Since, SP flash tool works, I had an idea. I reinstalled TWRP and wanted to manually flash Miraclebox files. I renamed all bin files as img files. Went into TWRP, chose install -> install img etc. But it is hard to know which file should go which partition. Is there such information somewhere? (detailed explanation of manually flashing phone through TWRP)

copy the scatter file that worked in spft and the files from the miracle box firmware into a new folder
rename the miracle box files to match the filenames within the scatter file e.g recovery.bin to recovery.img
so that upon selecting the scatter file in spft, the files will get loaded automatically then flash using spft
