[Please help] About using a larger system image

In another thread I have asked for help in making a port for my A19s UNIWA device. The system I have chosen is the UNIHERTZ JELLY PRO which has same MT6737T processor and same kernel (but it's Android 8.1 instead of 6). Since the 2 devices are VERY similar I would like to make a (silly) experiment. Can I simply upload to the Uniwa the system.img from the Uniherz? I would have done this already but the Uniherz system.img is larger than the Uniwa's. However, since it would overwrite some portion of the cache partition, do you think I can try this? If this attempt fails, do you think I can just reflash the original system.img and cache.img and be back to square one? Or not??
I know it's a silly experiment, I just need to know if I can safely go back without doing something irriversible.

This (GSI approach) won't work . You have to port a custom ROM.

This won't work. You have to port a custom ROM
