I have a ONN tablet (MT8768) with Android 10. It is rooted with Magisk. DM verity is disabled
I am able to use the 1.7a tool to create a twrp recovery. However, after I flash it and boot to recovery all I get is the twrp image but it goes no further.
Any ideas on what the problem could be? I am happy to do any testing as it is always possible to go back to the stock recovery.
Doing a factory reset via fastboot might help

flash back your stock recovery and keep an eye out on this thread for any updated release with twrp 3.5_10

V1.7a GUI with pie kernell 4.9.117 output error. Android 10 output is successful.
Sp flash recovery result is bootloop at logo.
Edit. Phone got bricked flashing stock android 9 (screen artifacts). SP flashed with firmware upgrade option to current android 10 rom from https://bbs.blackview.hk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=542698

1. What you need is TWRP v3.5 . We're working on an update that ports that version
2. Always disable dm verity before flashing custom / unsigned images

you software was the only way my Blu Diamond M D210U (android 6 marshmallow) got the custom recovery and then managed to Root it
I tried Kingo Root, and all imaginable APks for rooting
MTkRoot, MTK Doid Tools, and all other tools and sideloading
every 1 Click Rooter or custom recovery/patch or port of CWM and TWRP
even tried manual porting TWRP and failed miserably
until I found your app guys
