A few days ago, Tecno began rolling out the Camon CX Air-H3713A-N-170618V105 OTA update. This is coming shortly after the Camon CX received bugfix OTA updates. With less than a month to the highly anticipated August, the Tecno community is hoping Tecno truly releases Nougat updates for older Tecno devices as promised. You can listen to the podcast on H-Tech Radio for more on that announcement by Tecno. You would recall that the Tecno Camon CX and Camon CX Air shipped with Android 7.0 (Nougat) so bugfix OTAs are all we expect for now, not Android O (8.0).
So what is featured in this update?
Some features include:
- Version update: CX Air-H3713A-N-170618V105 (from CX Air-H3713A1-N-170330V91 )
- Update from HIOS 2.0 to 2.2.0
- Updated Google Security Patch to 6.5 (June 5 2017 Android security patch level)
- Merged the lastest GPRS parameters
- Increased 2db of the receiver sound
- Turned on the Fingerprint capture by default
- Fixed the issue where the Flashlight was inadvertently enabled under the leather case mode
Prerequisites for updating your Tecno Camon CX Air

Backup your current firmware
: I strongly recommend you dump your current firmware using a Chinese box like Miracle Box or Infinity Chinese Miracle II (MTK)

Ensure to unroot
: As at the time of this post, Team Hovatek has not published a rooting guide for the Tecno Camon CX Air, only the Tecno Camon CX has been rooted . If you have already rooted your Camon CX Air by the time you find this post then its very important you unroot your Tecno Camon CX Air using the Tecno Camon CX Air stock ROM / firmware . Also ensure the phone is running on stock recovery, not a custom recovery.

Charge the battery
: Make sure the battery is charged above 50%. If you can have it connected to power during the update then good; you don’t want an interrupted OTA update
How to install the Tecno Camon CX Air-H3713A-N-170618V105 OTA update
On the phone, Navigate to Settings > About > System updates then Search for an update. Once downloaded, tap Install. The OTA update.zip is roughly 514.04 MB in size.
After installation i am getting unzip error pop up. kindly advise.

When I put my flip cover it only shows torch outside the cover and not showing the music icon.
I’m Using v103. but still showing Your Device Is Up To date. why?

Whenever I set the phone ringtone of my Tecno CX Air to a music of my choice, it resets back to the phone default whenever the phone is switched on and off.
I have done the OTA update but the problem still persissits

New cx air , a day old. Forgot to put pattern only put fingerprint now the phone has been restarted it is asking of pattern. Whne there was non set initially , please how do I fix this
When setting your finger print, you’re usually asked to set a pattern or PIN as backup. Are you saying you weren’t prompted to set either when setting up finger print?
