The “unknown command” response usually means that the phone’s bootloader does not implement that unlocking command, rather than Fastboot simply being unable to detect the device.

First, make sure that **OEM unlocking** is enabled under Developer Options and that you are using the latest official Android Platform Tools. Then verify that the phone is in the actual bootloader interface—not recovery or userspace Fastboot—with:

`fastboot devices`

You can also try:

`fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability`

If that command, `fastboot flashing unlock`, and `fastboot oem unlock` all return “unknown command,” the KL4 firmware probably does not support the standard Fastboot unlocking method. I have not found an official TECNO unlocking procedure specifically for this model, so I would contact TECNO support before trying unofficial tools or files intended for another device.

Please back up everything first, because a supported bootloader unlock normally performs a complete factory reset. Avoid random “unlock” utilities, modified bootloaders, or firmware for similar models, as they could permanently brick the phone.

Have you enabled OEM Unlocking?

The OEM unlock command (as is) won't work because it requires a token (which you can't generate because this model likely uses private keys).
Download the bootloader unlock file @ https://www.hovatek.com/archive/download...-9-kl4.218 and extract.
Power off the phone then run unlock_autopatch_9230.bat and connect the phone while holding both Volume buttons; follow the prompt.
