How to unlock network carrier on Samsung phones

I was gifted a Samsung S7 from someone in the Us and I tried using my sim but it's showing invalid sim. Someone told me I had to unlock the carrier. I have miracle thunder but I only use it for frp bypass . My question is can I use that for network carrier unlock too? Or I need a special tool for that?
