How to fix crackling / popping sounds while playing audio on laptop

If you're getting a cracking , popping or weird sound while playing audio on your laptop then here are some fixes you can apply:
1. Downgrade, upgrade or reinstall audio drivers
2. Use an external speaker or headset . If the sounds still persist then it's likely a hardware issue
3. Uninstall recently installed or buggy software
