I got the same error message and could solve it as follows:
- In SP Flash, activate the "Advanced Mode" by pressing CTRL+ALT+V
- Select "Readback" tab
- Select "by SRAM" instead of "by DRAM"

The best way is to get phone chipset preloader or do python mtk r boot boot.img it will backup along the preloader on ubuntu

Thanks alot i can now readback using emmc user and 0x40000 partition size.
