Follow the steps below to tell the file system of a system.img in windows

  1. Navigate to your user directory within Cygwin then copy the system.img you're trying to verify into the folder
    Code:

    e.g C:\cygwin\home\{your PC username}

  2. Launch Cygwin

  3. Type the command below into cygwin window then hit enter [change 'system.img' to the file name of your system image]

    file system.img

  4. The result will display infomation about the system image file. e.g ext2, ext3, ext4, sparse
