[Tutorial] How to fix MTP error on a Windows PC

If you suddenly notice that your Windows PC no longer detects your Android phone's Internal storage then it just might be due to an MTP error. If such is the case, you'll find the device detected as unknown or with a yellow warning triangle.Â
Steps to fix MTP Error
Follow the steps below to fix the MTP error in Windows
- Leave the affected device connected to the PC via USB cord
- Launch Device Manager and locate the faulty MTP item (in the example below, it is Tecno Phantom 6)

- Right-click the device and select Update Driver Software

- Click Browser my computer for driver software

- Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer then click Next

- Select Portable Devices from the list then click Next

- Select MTP USB Device then click Next

- Wait while the driver gets re-installed

- Return to Device Manager, the yellow triangle should now be gone. Check under My Computer, the device should now be detected

Important Notice
If the above fails then ensure you have an internet connection >Â Right-click what the device gets detected as > Search for an update over the internet

at step 7, do you see any other mtp devices on the list?
