If your Nokia Lumia automatically adds an international dialling code like +1 , +44 etc to numbers you dial then your International Assist is probably turned on. To turn it off:
* Open the Phone app
* Select Settings in the app bar
* Turn off International Assist

or

* Navigate to settings
* Swipe right to applications
* Tap on phone
* Turn on “International assist”
