I recently upgraded my spark 4 to android 10. Now I want to root it using magisk. will the boot.img for stock android 9 work the same as the one in the phone which has android 10?

no, it won't you have to use the boot.img of your current firmware build
follow the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21970.html to back up your rom and obtain boot.img
