joe it doesnt. it tells me that recovery is not suitable for my phone

that sounds like you're using MTK droid tools. I asked you to use SP flash tool. Sp flash tool wouldnt give an error lke that

what does it show when you try booting into recovery mode?

did you flash the recovery.img in the stock backup or the one you created using stock recovery and boot images? which?

1. are you certain its in stock recovery mode and not cwm recovery mode?
2. download cwm image forh5 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-75.html then flash it and try boot into recovery mode
