that sounds like you're using MTK droid tools. I asked you to use SP flash tool. Sp flash tool wouldnt give an error lke that

joe i finally followed your instructions precisely but my phone still doesnt boot to cwm recovery
what does it show when you try booting into recovery mode?

did you flash the recovery.img in the stock backup or the one you created using stock recovery and boot images? which?

joe i used those that i created from the stock recovery and boot1. are you certain its in stock recovery mode and not cwm recovery mode?
2. download cwm image forh5 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-75.html then flash it and try boot into recovery mode

joe it finally booted to cwm recovery after flashing the recovery.imgexcellent, we're almost there. have you downloaded the cwm backup for h5?
