custom da isn't the problem here.
its either driver problem, usb cord or port, how and when you connect the phone to the pc
does the PC make any sound when you connect the phone? and does device manager refresh when you connect the phone?
while at it, try a different usb cable or different port on the PC and ensure the phone is properly switched off before connecting to the PC

what does the phone get detected as under device manager?

you can use snipping tool as @emmanus suggested
click start menu > type snipping tool and it should appear on the list then hit enter to launch it

I was able to use a friend's pc today and the sp flash was able to flash but I didn't get a successful message Instead I got an error message on sp flash tool say not enough buffer error and my phone got into deep sleep
