The technique am showcasing works for almost any Android devices. For Mac users there is a very good news that a developer called Joshua Wise designed a compatible driver for USB tethering known as HoRNDIS (horrendous).

See some description about HoRNDIS from developer site

Quote:HoRNDIS (pronounce: “horrendous”) is a driver for Mac OS X that allows you to use your Android phone’s native USB tethering mode to get Internet access. It is known to work with Mac OS X versions 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) through 10.10

How To Share Android Data Connection With Mac Using USB Tethering:

Follow these steps:
  • Download and install the HoRNDIS on your Mac machine
  • Connect Android device to your Mac via USB cable
  • Go-to the Android device “Settings -> More Wireless – > Wireless & Networks -> Tethering & Portable Hotspots”
  • Just Tick on the “USB tethering” option here
  • Now on Mac open System Preferences program and click on “Network“, here you will find your Android device with green dot (showing connected status) will appear in life side pane of the Network window just double-click on it.

You’ve connected to your device successfully and ready to share your Android data connection with Mac using USB tethering.
