I found a firmware for my device but the version is android 5.1 my device's version is 6.0 is it gonna work or is it gonna destroy my phone?

Aside from searching online,
you can backup the firmware using any dongle that supports backup in PAC file format eg CM2SPD
OR you can try requesting for the firmware from your device manufacturer (they might be willing to help)
