Google locked Itel S23

Bought this second hand itel S23 from a friend,now based in another state. He was traveling and needed money urgently. The phone worked for some weeks and started misbehaving. I did all i could to no avail. So, I factory reset it and that is when the problem started.
It is now locked and asking for email which I don't know as my friend said he don't know either as he bought it from someone I don't know.. I can see a lock at the upper left hand corner of the phone. Ally effort probed abortive. Pls can some one help me here?
Itel S23 is the phone. Google locked.
