Hello everyone,

I am new to flashing firmware on Android devices and need some help. I have a custom Android device made by Phonemax. Here are the specs:

• Processor: Unisoc T606
• Board: ums9230_1h10
• Android version: 13
• version.release: 13
• version.sdk: 33

I need to find an Android 13 custom ROM to install. I know I need to use the UpgradeDownload tool for this, but I’m not sure how to proceed or what steps to follow.

I downloaded a ROM that I thought would work and followed the instructions in this thread: https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-1231.html

However, every time I load the .pac file of the ROM into the UpgradeDownload tool and plug in the device while holding the Volume Down button, the process starts but then fails with the error: [ps2257] UART send error.

Can someone help me with this process?

Which version of research download tool are you using?

The issue might be with the custom ROMs you're using. I will suggest trying GSI ROMs instead

Do you know where I can find an Android 13 GSI ROM, specifically the .pac file, so I can flash the device with the UpgradeDownload tool?

I doubt you can see a custom ROM in pac format. Is the phone still working fine or not booting up?

You shouldn't be trying a pac file that's not for your model.
You won't find a custom ROM in pac format. What you'll find is a GSI.
The real question is are you looking got a custom or stock ROM? What's the objective really?

The device is still working fine. What I am trying to do is find a custom ROM for it, such as GrapheneOS or LineageOS (something open source), and install it on the device. To be more specific, this is a custom Unisec device made by Phonemax. However, I don’t know how to install a custom ROM on it, since, as far as I know, the only way to install it is via the UpgradeDownload tool.
