I did build TWRP using the online builder. Just not sure if I need to do anything else. I assume I just flash it.

Flash and see it it works. If you've built it using boot.img then:

First, boot into TWRP recovery mode using the command:
fastboot boot TWRP_name.img
Test TWRP to ensure everything is working as expected

Please flash TWRP to the recovery partition in Fastboot or Fastbootd. You can do this by running the following command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_name.img

It does not work. After I run fastboot flash recovery twrp.img I get a "your device is corrupt It can't be trusted and will not boot" .

This also does not work. This is an A/B device. Sony Xperia 1 VI.

C:\adb>fastboot boot twrp.img
Sending 'boot.img' (27596 KB) OKAY [ 0.705s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'Unrecognized command boot')
fastboot: error: Command failed

I did flash back stock recovery. But your TWRP build does not work.
