I have a Zenfone 7 that just died out of nowhere about a year ago. The screen won't turn on at all.
I decided to connect to my laptop and noticed that in the Device Manager it recognizes
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 on COM 5. I assume it is in EDL mode. I tried this guide using BoardDiag, but I just get the message: "Device was not found in dload trying flash programmer". I've tried MiFlash, but get "Object reference not set to an Instance Of an Object." I've tried QIL, but honestly have no idea how to flash it. fastboot and abd don't detect the phone.

You'll need the firehose file (.elf) or try this https://github.com/bkerler/edl

Where can I get the .elf files? Tried searching for this phone, but never did find them.

I tried the link and installed UsbDkController, git, and python.
When running the "UsbDkController -n" command I get "Enumeration failed".
When I run the command edl --serial I get the error:
edl", line 140, in <module>
from edlclient.Library.Connection.seriallib import serial_class
File "C:\\Downloads\Phone\edl-master\edlclient\Library\Connection\seriallib.py", line 23, in <module>
import serial
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'serial'

Hello,
I think to troubleshoot, confirm it's recognized in EDL mode on COM 5 in Device Manager. Attempted fixes using BoardDiag resulted in "Device was not found in dload trying flash programmer," MiFlash gave "Object reference not set to an Instance Of an Object," and QIL seems complex.

I'm quite certain your phone is stuck in EDL. Finding the firehose is just the problem
