Hey all,

I have a Vankyo P31 tablet having an unisoc sc9863a (running on Android 10). I wanted to change the rom as it wasn't getting any updates and the security patches were stuck at around 2020.

So I set out to unlock the bootloader with the hovatek modified fastboot method, kudos to hovatek team for the tool👏👏

I'm currently running into a few issues. Firstly, for unisoc devices the next step would be to obtain the pac firmware file which I'm not able to find for this particular model anywhere in the internet.

With regards to magisk, I'll be needing the boot.img to patch it (which can also be only obtained from the pac file). I also tried the recovery installation and it failed with error 21 , error in signature verification

Could someone just guide me on this. Thanks for your time.😀

Could not find the firmware. You'll need to dump it from the tablet it seems.

Hey @maxpayne, can you extract and send the firmware pac files if you have the device. The tab is currently stuck in a bootloop

Can anyone help on how to use the spd research tool to flash stock firmware.I read in the internet about using the tool but couldn't get it to work.

Anyways, thanks in advance 😀

I don't have the device. I thought the device was working fine. How did it get bricked?

I flashed an empty vbmeta.ing (had seen this solution work for some people in another article), only for it to start a bootloop and is now not even booting into fastboot or recovery Sad

That method doesn't work for Unisoc

If you flashed an empty vbmeta and you don't have the stock firmware, or at least the original vbmeta, it's dead.

In theory, one could use vbmeta from another device
for example Teclast P20 HD (P3A4) 99% vbmeta will be identical to your device.
Firmware Download
Search to P3A4

But you would only have to flash vbmeta and probably have to disconnect the battery before flashing,
otherwise SPD Research won't recognize the device.

PS:
For next time, files like boot.img, vbmeta.img
for Unisoc they must be signed.

Hey,

Will the boot?.IMG, system.IMG of this device also work with the tab. Also can you guide on how to use the SPD tool, I've seen multiple sources but just don't seem to get the hang of it.

Thanks in advance😀
