[Please help] MTK imei lost after flash stock rom / TCL 30 XE 5G
(11-02-2023, 06:30 PM)exnfox So i sucessfully rooted this device maybe 2 weeks ago... however bricked it trying to modify build.prop ( i still dont know how to mount system rw on this device)
so when i didnt have the firmware backed up i kind of was stuck so i ordered a junk phone off ebay same model but imei was blacklisted i did a full backup of the firmware and was able to unbrick my original device.. however the problem i face now is that it also copied the IMEI number from the ebay one onto this one.... ive tried numerous imei changer apps , tried clearing nvram nvdata, all that stuff but still it has the imei from the ebay device..... Im not asking how to change imei number persay because i know that is frowned upon and iilegal in some countries... but is there any way to restore the devices actual imei??? its a MT6833 ( mediatek dimensity 700 5g k6833) TCL t767w (30 XE 5g)
do i need to erase all paritions before flashing to get my imei number back? where did i go wrong? when flashing the ebay phones firmware should I not have flashed a certin partition pertaining to the imei ?
any insight or suggestions i thank you in advance

Try the modem meta method @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-116.html
If that fails then the nvram + nvdata method should work. You would just need to modify your nvram using HXD
(17-02-2023, 11:38 AM)exnfox ive tried the modem meta method with modem meta, muai meta, modern meta.. all drivers installed i can never get the program to pick up the phone... was able to get into metamode using mtk meta utility but not with any of the other meta programs...
i will try to use the hex editor is there any guides available other than this one youtube one?

is the imei data store in the nvram.bin or nvdata.bin? i have both those from both versions of the phone but either one i flash the imei still stays same...
is the imei maybe stored in proinfo.bin?

Since you can get it into meta mode, why don't you set modem meta to meta mode instead of smart phone.
To edit the nvram, follow the technique @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-26051.html
(09-03-2023, 11:45 AM)exnfox Was curious… I read that imei on a rooted device is not doable . Is that why I am having issues ? Because my device is rooted? Maybe the program mentioned would work if I unrooted?
