Hi all
I have one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384770479698 in my 2006 Merc. its a MTK8667 Android 11 based unit. FF_866X is the device name, i'm sorry I do not know the MCU
I was sent some firmware files from the seller https://we.tl/t-UeDC40i6Ul XRC-8667 升级软件 Q腾实UI多合一-国外-1280x720_v32_20220223. The firmware comes in 2 files once the zip is extracted, 8667.bin and 8667.upd
Upgrade steps
1) Unzip after downloading (only unzip once)
2) Copy the file to the U disk
3) Connect the U disk while the power is on
4) The machine will automatically upgrade
5) If the machine cannot be upgraded, you need to press RES and keep touching the display with two fingers

during the update process it copied the superimage ok but then something came up in red but it came up to a kind of recovery and said erasing... it then rebooted it gets to the car logo screen, before android screen then goes to a blank screen with the following in bottom left corner...FASTBOOT MODE and wont go any further

I have pressed RST then two fingers on screen until i get "detected" but all i get is the same fastboot mode again,
I have redownloaded and extracted the firmware and reformatted my usb drive to fat32 and tried the whole process again and tried in both usb slots but no sucess...what can I do?? is it broken??
I have obtained other mtk8667 firmware files 8667.bin and 8667.upd from this topic https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firmw...d.4405475/ on xda forum but I have tried many different ones and it just wont read the usb, still just goes straight to fastboot mode....is anyone able to help me I have messaged the seller but no reply

So far I have tried about 7 or 8 different firmware versions, the sellers own, some junsun versions, ossuret versions even xtrons versions(all in correct format of 8667.bin and 8667.upd on root of usb formatted to fat32 but it does not read the usb.
The usb slots are still working as I can plug my phone in and it charges but the unit does not seem to have a full recovery mode. I have read up on sp flash tool but the firmware does not contain a scatter file, preloader, bootrom ect so I'm totally stuck as the seller is just not willing to help. It was bought in April and according to ebay has 12 months warranty but ebay refuse to step in so looks like getting a replacement isn't going to happen so I need to try and fix it
I have a video of the problem here https://we.tl/t-udbePc3SCy

It seems thee firmware you flashed is incompatible with the device. That or the stock recovery currently on the device isn't letting it complete the erase or format process.
Setup fastboot using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-588.html and check if fastboot detects the device

Thank you so much for your reply I will certainly try this, however associated and linked threads often mention flashing a recovery image but my firmware files consist of 2 files
8667.bin
8667.upd
I have extracted the bin file but can find no recovery image.
I have asked the vendor to supply a recovery image or a full memory dump but they have ignored my messages and I cannot find a recovery image or memory dump anywhere online for mtk8667 the only one I have found is for 8227L

Yes i did this
Installed drivers manually but still will not recognise unit
Plus mtk8667 is not in the list
I have removed the unit and replaced as it was so frustrating when it just won't recover
I am trying to find a repair specialist here in the UK, hopefully someone can do it

It seems that chipset isn't supported, not yet in MTK Client also

You could try https://youtu.be/pj4iFakq33M
