Hello friends,

I bought my first MediaTek "Tecno Spark 8 4 / 64GB Helio G25" device and I'm having one problem.

Stock firmware "KG6k-H6218M-R-EU-220210V163" which I immediately backed up "CM2 Dongle" and is seamless, root and other OK, after flashing functional, but ... the system offers an update to "KG6k-H6218M-R-EU -220510V171 "after the update everything is fine, the system will boot.

So I backed up this updated firmware, but ... root fails, I get to bootlop, bootloader unlocked, dm-verity disabled, the system does not boot even if the flash firmware is backed up, I always have to flash stock until it comes to life.

Are you flashing magisk boot in fastboot or fastbootd?
Do you still obtain root when you downgrade to the previous build number?

Flash on fastboot, fastbootd not work, failed.

Yes, after downgrade to the previous build number, root fully work.

But I'm more surprised that the second backup "after the update" is not working, after flashing from this backup the device does not boot.

OK, so the problem won't be in magisk patched boot.img but empty vbmeta, after flashed ...

fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta_a empty-vbmeta.img

and

fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta_b empty-vbmeta.img

bootloop

Solved

flash stock vbmeta with disable dm-verity and wipe cache/data
