Is there any way to update mtk device without loosing data and root as OTA update will relock the bootloader ? I have infinix x690 which is rooted by flashing patched MAGISK boot method.

OTA update doesn't relock bootloader not unless you manually relock the bootloader yourself
as for loss of data, nobody can guarantee you a safe method unless they've used the same method on the same device model, best you backup your data

The thing I am worried about is that after OTA update root will be lost and I'll have to reflash MAGISK patched boot image . Now
Can I flash it in fastboot without data erase ?
For the first time data was erased for bootloader unlocking . So if bootloader stays unlocked I would be able to access boot partition in fastboot without data erase and all my data partition would be there as it is ?
Also do I have to flash original boot and unroot before OTA UPDATE ?
Thanks.

ofc, you'd still need the new boot.img to patch using magisk

you mean flash ota using fastboot? No, you can't

Exactly

Yes, not unless you don't mind getting a bricked device

Not sure should I update or not . It's months since I haven't updated and don't feel any need to do it either .. Everything's going on well . after update if somehow bootloader is relocked I'll end up erasing everything .

Irs really users preference, you could read the changelog for the update and see if there's anything interesting like a bug fix or something or if it's a major update

flash stock firmware @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-34324.html using mtk bypass method @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-37957.html
to unroot, unlock bootloader, flash empty vbmeta @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32719.html , then patch boot using magisk @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html
