Bootloader refuses to unlock
Bootloader refuses to unlock
(02-02-2021, 01:41 PM)Filip620 Hello!
My Lenovo VIBE K5 A6020a41 refuses to unlock its bootloader.
Output of fastboot oem unlock:
FAILED (remote: 'oem unlock is not allowed')
I have enabled developer settings, usb debugging and Unlock OEM setting.
On xda-forums I found some posts of people with the same issue and smartphone model and they said they fixed it by flashing another stock rom (they didn't specify which).
I have flashed two or three other stock ROMs with QFIL, one was for A6020a40 model and the other two were for my A6020a41 model.
Again, I enabled all the necessary settings and still couldn't unlock my bootloader, showed the same error.
Then I tried flashing TWRP through QFIL, but when I rebooted into it, Lenovo logo showed for a second and then a black screen forever, I also tried to see if adb was able to detect it as a device in recovery, but it didn't.
Then I managed to root it with KingoRoot(I know it is not secure and it is bad and all, but I just want to flash a custom rom anyway), so I installed the official TWRP app and an app called Flashify, both flashed TWRP successfully, but I couldn't boot into the TWRP again, Lenovo logo for a second and a black screen.
Do You have any suggestions please?
Thank You.

when flashing twrp, ensure that the twrp you are flashing actually works for the current firmware build your device is running
what is the output of both of these commands?
Code:fastboot oem device-info
fastboot getvar unlocked
fastboot oem device-info
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: true
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.004s]
Finished. Total time: 0.004s
fastboot oem getvar unlocked

attach a full screenshot showing the commands you sent
while at it, try flashing only magisk patched boot using qfil then confirm if the device can still boot to homescreen
(04-02-2021, 02:20 PM)Filip620 Magisk patched boot image flashed with QFIL flawlessly, no issues with booting, Magisk is installed.

if this is the case, then it seems that you don't necessarily need to unlock bootloader to run custom images on this device
if you still wish to unlock bootloader, try searching for a patched aboot.img which would allow for unlocking bootloader (mind you, flashing the wrong aboot will hardbrick 9008 mode your device)
(05-02-2021, 10:24 AM)Filip620 You mean boot images or also other like recovery?
The boot image worked as we tested, but then I don't see a reason why I wouldn't be able to run a custom recovery.
The modified recovery images do not work, although the modified boot image does?
I am 100% positive that the recoveries are compatible with my model.
(05-02-2021, 10:24 AM)Filip620 And by hardbrick 9008 mode you mean that I should be able to restore it with QFIL?
