Hi my name is Mark, I'm new here and I have been wanting to move to android 10 since larva haven't provided the larva iris 89 with a Android 10 update, and also my larva device had a persistent system ui have stop working crash that can only be described as annoying. So I stumbled upon a lineage os 17.1 gsi image, I made a mistake and flashed the wrong one(a64 av.img) and my phone entered a bootloop. After reading from this very forum that the best way to go with the mediatek mt6761 is 32 bit with 64 binder which I think is a64 bv.img, so I downloaded that rom and flashed it through fastboot. But now it is stuck on the lava boot screen.plz someone help me!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the long story.

Hi friend,

In your situation I would say it's hard bricked. I suggested to flash stock ROM with SP flash tool and choose format and download to reorganize the device.

Before you try flashing GSI, please check your device support for Treble project first. Try Treble project check app in Play Store to see if your phone supports what archs. ARM32, ARM32 binder 64 or ARM64 and A only or A/B.
Sometimes the treble check apps inform wrong Aonly or A/B. I have A/B but the app said A only.

Flashing GSI is risky and has more than 50% bootloop. I have flashed GSI more than 20 ROMs. There are only a few ROMs that my devices can boot. So please bear in mind this risk. You need to prepare Stock ROM before doing this. Otherwise your devices could turn into a paperweight.

it would not make any difference if you did a factory reset using a custom recovery but better stock recovery if you are testing
@siamese007 has said it all, if unsure then try both a-only and a/b and perform factory reset after flashing and also bear in mind that not all roms will work for your device, you do your tests to find what works

Thank you all for your help! I found a solution.Turns out treble check is not really accurate, it told me that my device have an a A only partition. But treble info told me I have a a/b partition and so I choose that rom and now I am booting lineage os 17.1 on my device.

I only have one question though, how do you flash gapps, because when I try with twrp(thanks for that wonderful auto import twrp app) it tells me failed. Is there another way to install gapps?

Hi Mark, Great to hear that you successfully flash LOS on your device.
I am also looking for the method to flash GAPPS to work with GSI vinilla version but no luck so far.

The following are my trials and errors to flash GAPPS with GSI vanilla:
1. using TWRP or other custom recovery to flash GAPPS = failed; even though I could flash firmware correctly with no error.
2. using ADB sideload both stock and custom recovery = failed; even though I could run most adb commands with no error.
3. using APKmirror to download Google Play Store.apk, Google Play services.apk and other necessary file.apk to install = failed; there is no Google Play Store that could run on GSI system so far.

I am flashing GSI with GAPPS built in. You can notice this in the coded names of each GSI ROMs with GAPPS.
Vanilla means no GAPPS. So you flashed LOS 17.1 bVa. However I have not found any LOS GSI ROMs with GAPPS so far.

But flashing GSI ROMs with GAPPS will come with very huge file sizes extracted around 2.5-3.8GB.
And my device's /system partition are not able to flash many of GSI ROMs due to their huge file sizes.
I noticed that if my devices have very small RAM sizes so does /system partition sizes.

I am still looking for the method of flashing GAPPS with GSI vanilla if possible because GSI ROMs with GAPPS are hugge.
Have tried to resize /system partition but Android devices that come with Android 10 have dynamic /super partition that specify the partition sizes from the manufacturers. Deleting /product partition helps adding somewhat hundreds of MB to /system partition.

Any suggestions on how to flash GAPPS with GSI vanilla will be more than welcome.

Hi siamese007 , i'm sorry to hear about your situation.I also have the same issue twrp can't install gapps, abd sideload don't work flashify says successful but no google apps after boot.
I also tried an app call gapps installer apk, but it requires allow mock location to work(lineage os 17.1 does not have the feature. But if you are in
a rom that have the mock location feature then I think you should give it a try.I don't know why the lineage recovery doesn't work., cos I read it is able to sideload gapps successfully through adb.I will be looking for other means to flash gapps, but if it doesn't I think I will try lineage 18.1 which I think has gapps with it's rom.

Hi Mark, Thank you for your feedbacks. I just found a method to install GAPPS or sort of.
MicroG Project is a substitute to install GAPPS on Custom ROM with no GAPPS.
Please take a look at this VDO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhfWJmFMVQw
Note: I am not sure what kind of LOS the author of this VDO used.

If you find LOS with GAPPS please share the link. I have not found any LOS with GAPPS so far.
I also like LOS. I had used LOS since Cyannogen on my legacy Samsung Galaxy S1.

Cheers,
