Hi X3non,
I'm forced to reopen this old thread because, after stupidly resetting the phone in a foolish attempt to upload a GSI rom, now I'm back at square one trying to restore the old system. I have to point out that, before resetting the phone I did a FULL rom dump of the working rom with WWR, but, when I restored it, to my surprise I got a message that the phone was encrypted and that I had to start all over again with factory settings.
CURRENT SCENARIO
This is an Android 9 phone encrypted with DM Verity 1.0. It does NOT have ramdisk, so Magisk says that i have to patch the recovery, because root would only work by starting the phone from a patched recovery.
I was able to return the phone so it's factory settings and relocked the bootloader (no warnings at all), but when I did:
fastboot flashing unlock ----------------> unlock FAILED (remote: 'unlock operation is not allowed')
fastboot flashing unlock_critical -------> unlock FAILED (remote: 'unlock operation is not allowed')
I clearly remember that when I first rooted this phone, those commands were executed with success, so now I don't know what to do. What I remember is that I didn't need a TWRP recovery to get root and everything was done successfully with fastboot and later with Magisk.
Do you have any recommendations (beside stop messing with this phone since it was working ok)?
Thank you
Mike
Ps, please ignore the previous post that I could not delete.
