Hi, i was in the process and unlocking bootloader installing twrp etc..i managed to unlock the bootloader but couldn't do the rest (will explain after this issue is sorted).i stupidly tried to flash the twrp with the stock flashing tool, now the tablet is bricked, no signs of life, have i killed it for good?

No, you have not
you'll either need to keep charging the device until it shows charging sign OR you disassemble and disconnect / reconnect the battery. refer to https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-808.html

No, you have not

Had it on charge for about 12 hours with no joy Sad

just opened it up and disconnect/connect battery, nothing, Ive killed it Sad

are you sure you disconnected / the reconnected the right clip for battery and not something else?

Flashing a modified file using any of the SPD tools on devices like this is a mistake. Even if you must, its vbmeta first before other files with signature matching the vbmeta. Anything other than that will result in an error and your tablet stuck in flash mode.
Fastboot is the way to go.
I encountered the same on our copy of the P80X. You just need to leave it connected to power. It took up to a week in one case. https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-808.html and patience is the key. No need to panic
