Got a few of these devices, and its an impressive tablet that doesnt get much love. 
i downloaded firm ware from TECLAST's own website, then used MAGISK to patch the boot image before SPTOOLs pushed the firmware to device.  
easy to root, and  here is where it gets weird....    
i have 4 of these tablets..   3 of them worked PERFECT and MAGISK even UPDATES with no issues... 
the last guy, is stuck on MAGISK 20.3 and EVEN MAGISK self-installing wont stick when trying to update.  
i am sure i can re-do the firmware flash and fix it, but i need to help of some higher powered android folks here ..

are these TECLAST m89pro   A/B  type?   (would explain why this one device wont handle the newest MAGISK update?)
- i tried sending a request to TWRP for a recovery port, but no luck as its still just hanging on the REQUEST PAGES. ( the NON-PRO version has a TWRP port  )
-I understand that the TWRP group has there hands full, so its its poor attempt to even ask them , and improper as well. 
- i have a KALI laptop, WIN7 laptop, and an older MAC , could someone point me to the right direction so i could try to make my own TWRP port? (would be nice with 4 devices)
-the internet is endless with information, but it also has very little with reguards to porting TWRP on newer MEDIATEK devices. 
-its a little sad this device isnt more common, as it really shines, plus its one of the BEST looking screens ive ever experienced in an android device. 
- PS: how do i UNLOCK the BOOTLOADER on these before trying TWRP ??  (i cant find much info anywhere) (its not a spredtrum type method, and OEM unlock wont work)

No, ofc you can use the app treble check @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...elo.treble ; see if the device supports seemless system updates. A/B devices support seemless system update

you could try the tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html ; see if it works for you

"fastboot flashing unlock" might work for unlocking the bootloader, be sure to try out all 3 unlock commands @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19578.html

got it unlocked, thank you.
even got a twrp to stick/work.

version 1.4 was   the only one that stuck and booted.  i have previously patched my boot.img with MAGISK, so TWRP is mostly for back/roms. 

TWRP boots fine into recovery, minus this short but strange 1/2 second rainbow screen??.. anyways TWRP shows 99 storage devices, (not sure how to fix that) and doesnt have any permissions. (IE:wont write/read to any storage selected)     i think ....i need to set the correct FLAGS ,and recompile it.   is there any windows tools to do this or should i stick to KALI?

attach a screenshot of the 99 storage you are referring to and both stock and twrp fstab files
