Hello friends,

so I was experimenting with my phone NOKIA 5.1TA-1075 - BUILD NUMBER 00WW_3_190 ) and the software NOKIA OST LA 6.2.8, I didn't flash any rom but when the phone was in fastboot mode and connected to the software I clicked Edit Phone Information:

After I clicked Edit Phone Information I got no results from the software and now the phone is turned off and unresponsive, it just vibrates once every 20 seconds.

The phone can't:
- be turned on
- be turned on in boot menu, factory reset and fastboot
- be connected to pc (apparently)

I kindly ask you, do know of any solution for this problem?
Thank you very much

connect the phone to the pc while it's making the looping vibrations, what does device manager detect?
try disconnect / reconnect the battery, see if it can power on
if it can't then download firmware from the link under the important notice section @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-26928.html
extract firmware @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-31575.html
flash using spft @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-159.html

The device manager detects "mediatek preloader usb vcom" under "Ports & LPT", this appears and disappears every time the phone vibrates in loop.

Sorry but the phone is sealed, do I have to pry open it or how can I disconnect the battery?

If it can help I had saved some backup files from the phone using root access in ADB, the files saved are those in the picture below, the file were saved using these set of commands: dd if=/dev/block/file of=/storage/sdcard0/file

During the process I didn't assign an extension to the copied files though.

I also saved a scatter file of the phone.
So if those saved files are better and safer than the generic firmware for the nokia 5.1 I downloaded from the page you linked I can flash them if it is possible.

I update on the issue,

I tried flashing with sp flash tools but as before the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting very quickly every 20 seconds and sp flash tools doesn't detect the phone, the download progress bar is not moving.

I'm on a clean win 10 pro x64 installation on a virtual machine.

I tried these drivers:
MT6577USBVComDrivers
ANDROID VCOM MTK DRIVERS
Mediatek Driver Auto Installer v1.1352
Driver Auto Installer v5.1632.00

Have the battery disconnected and reconnected. This eliminates a number of scenarios and we can diagnose further if it persists
You could try holding the power button when you connect to a wall charger to see if this makes any different before opting for battery disconnection

I can keep the power button pressed for minutes (plugged or unplugged), phone behaviour doesn't change.

To disconnect the battery do I have to disassemble the phone or is there another way?

let the phone continue the vibration loop until the battery drains, this will power off the phone then you can charge the battery just a little bit before attempting to flash. depending on how big your battery is, it might take a long while to drain, all depending on how big the battery is

I've got a suggestion by other people to press vol+ & vol- briefly at usb connection, in this way mediatek usb port gets detected and sp flash tool detects the phone very briefly but then it disconnects and give me this erro:

you don't need to hold any buttons when flashing and also check properly if there's a DA file within the contents of the firmware, ensure to add the da into spft

SOLVED!

I switched to a win 7 x86 virtual machine, then installed OST tool (just to have the drivers installed), I used sp flash tool 5.1952 (probably newer versions work too) I went to the download tab, selected scatter file of the downloaded firmware, DA left standard, clicked download button, connected phone to usb while holding vol+ & vol- and released them just after connected, spft detected the phone and started the flashing.

moral of the story: pay attention to the OS you operate in, the drivers and correct button pressing sequence!

DONE!
