Merry Christmas team hovatek, I own an itel p33 and I am trying to install a custom OS like lineage on it. I understand that to do this I need to unlock my bootloader, I tried this using one of your tutorials but the commands all fail. I tried flashing with the research tool but that always times out. Please help me

To unlock bootloader you need to enable developer options and OEM unlocking in developer options then follow the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19578.html

To install custom ROMs you need custom recovery (TWRP) on your phone not research download tool.
use Hovatek TWRP porting tool for SPD @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21669.html to get custom recovery on your phone.

bootloader on this model can't be unlocked atm, also not possible to root or modify the OS as well seeing as flashing custom images using research download tool isn't allowed

the latter as it can take forever for something good to come out for devices such as this one ie if anything good will ever come

Thanks a lot for your response, my major reason for wanting a custom ROM was for customization so maybe I'll just install a custom theme engine
