your firmware is in ftf format?

the tutorial explains how to extract from an ftf, which is the file format for most sony & xperia firmwares. at the end of the tutorial, you can see boot.img was attained. when you get the boot.img at step 3, you can choose whatever you intend to do with it. in the OP's case he decided to put in flashable zip, you don;t need that so you can skip
